On April 24, 2014, Tier One Technology Partners and Unleashed Technologies convened a panel of experts who discussed strategies, and provided real-world examples, to show how small and medium-sized businesses can compete against larger corporations by using the right technologies, and without breaking their budgets. The event was held at The Hotel at Arundel Preserve in Hanover, Maryland.
When asked what larger companies are doing to strategically outsource, Tier One’s Keith Marchiano responded:
“Larger firms are already using cloud-based technology to outsource most of their line-of-business applications. They partner with managed IT service firms to augment the talent they have in-house. This allows them to be more strategic in using technology to help them grow their business.”
As a follow up, Keith was asked, how small and mid-sized businesses can make outsourcing more strategic. Marchiano replied
“Most small businesses can’t justify the cost of having an in-house IT employee, or if they do, they have just one. Either way, they need an IT partner who provides a virtual CIO component and consulting as part of a comprehensive managed service offering. When it comes to technology, where most small businesses suffer is when they hire an outsourced IT company that only provides computer repair. Small businesses that have a true desire to grow, must partner with a managed service provider that will help them build a strategy, provide internal and external security controls, and develop a plan for using technology to grow while providing the usual resources of monitoring, patching, remote help desk, on onsite support.”
Those who attended came away with all the information they need to leverage technology, with the help of the right IT partner, to take on their larger competitors. Plus, a lucky attendee took home the door prize, a Kindle Fire.
